Upcoming events in Jupiter for September and October

Jupiter, Florida, is located in northern Palm Beach County. In 2012, the  “Coastal Living” magazine rated this community town as the “9th Happiest Seaside Town in America.” Its most famous landmark is the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, which was built in 1860 and has been included in the National Register of Historic Places since 1973.

Jupiter owes its name to a cartographer who mistook the Spanish name “Jobe” for “Jove,” which is another name for the God Jupiter. The town is on the Atlantic coast and enjoys a tropical climate. It also provides a lot of opportunity for fun and pleasant activities, as the following events scheduled for September and October prove:

Kooky Halloween

Kooky Halloween will be held on October 28 from 6 to 9 P.M. at the Jupiter Community Center. There will be music, inflatable bounce houses, and a flashlight Egg Haunt. You will also enjoy games and lots of candy, so BYOB (Bring Your Bag) to collect some. While admission to the event is free, the light refreshments are not.

On a more serious note, One Blood will be conducting a blood drive during the event. Anybody interested in sponsoring a particular event or program should visit “Sponsorships” under “Departments” on the town’s official website (www.jupiter.fl.us).

Jupiter Home Show

The Jupiter Home Show takes place on October 29 from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. There will be over 100 exhibits featuring home services and products provided by local businesses that can help visitors remodel, repair or refurbish their homes – or at least provide inspiration and advice.

Visitors can also enjoy food and drinks, radio station games and giveaways, and live radio interviews with local celebrities. The show will also host dog adoptions. Admission is free.

El Sol Fest

The El Sol Fest will be held on October 22 and 23, and it will honor the 10th anniversary of El Sol, which is the neighborhood resource center in Jupiter. Originally known as ArtFest, the El Sol Fest is the center’s primary fundraiser. Proceeds from El Sol Fest will go to benefit the center’s 22 programs and will be offered to needy residents. A cocktail reception and festival preview will take place on October 22 from 6 to 8:30 P.M.

The proper festival scheduled on the 23rd October will also include live music and entertainment, art exhibits, a children’s area, and plenty of foods and drinks.

Fall Fest

The Fall Fest will be held on October 1 at the Plaza Down Under on the Riverwalk. There will be live music courtesy of the Uproot Hootenanny band, who plays bluegrass, country, and Celtic music. The Festival will also feature an Oktoberfest-style beer garden, a carnival area for kids, a dog costume contest, a petting zoo, local artisan vendors and local food trucks.

There are still spaces for exhibits for non-profit organizations and food and artisan vendors. Spaces for vendors cost $35.00, and the application forms can be filled out online on the below website.

Main Street Cruise – Classic Car Show

The Main Street Cruise – Classic Car Show will take place on September 3. It usually involves around 300 cars that date back to 1973 or before. Participants can register between 2 and five P.M., and the cars will all be on display at that hour. The cruise will take place at around 8:15 P.M.

You will also enjoy live music performed at the nearby Abacoa Amphitheater, and the participating area restaurants will offer special dishes for visitors and guests.

Food Truck Invasions at Abacoa

The Food Truck Invasions, which takes place every second Friday of the month, will be held on September 9. Food trucks are no longer the “roach coaches” of yore; there is a new trend that includes delicious gourmet food and thus provides the ultimate picnic dishes and plateaus. Visitors will need to bring their seating such as blankets, folding chairs, and tables. This month’s invasion takes place between 5:30 and 10 P.M.

C3 Coastal Conservation & Concert

The C3 Coastal Conservation & Concert will be held on September 24 from 5 to 8 P.M. A local band, Viva Classic Rock! will perform live music, and conservation groups and other non-profits will provide educational exhibits.

The conservation groups that will attend the concert will include the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, and the Beach Guardians Atlantic Coast. There will also be drinks and food, and a variety of wares sold by local merchants. Blankets, lawn chairs, and pets on leashes are all welcome.
